My Dog is My Home

Maggie-and-EricSMALLMy Dog is My Home carries out the museum’s mission of exploring “our shared experience” through the lens of the redemptive bond between humans and animals who live together on the streets. By bringing visibility to the under-represented group of homeless inter-species families, we aspire to provide a place where the experts – those who actually live the experience – have the opportunity to tell their stories.

The narratives shared here reveal some unexpected insights: the circumstances of human-animal homelessness are not as sad and impossible to overcome as they may appear. We hope the content of this exhibition encourages you to reflect upon not only the struggles but the ingenuity, joys, and hopes of aPops-and-WednesdaySMALLll those who are seeking safety on the streets with and within their animals.

This exhibition is dedicated to the uncounted number of humans and animals who have found a home in each other despite having little else.
