Museum Outreach

Consider us a museum with and without walls. We love to travel! Our outreach programs are designed to be flexible and accommodating in order to meet the needs of your institution, group or event. We strive to serve a wide range of ages and abilities and can incorporate any number of activities within an outreach, including:

  • Interactive Ice Breakers & Games
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Storytelling
  • Hands-On & Participatory Exercises
  • Demonstrations
  • Audio/Visuals: slideshows, video, objects, music/sounds

Representatives from The Animal Museum are delighted to speak or facilitate discussions on human-animal studies, the history of American and international animal protection, and humane education.

Talks can be tailored for:
  • Youth Organizations
  • Colleges & Universities
  • Libraries & Community Centers
  • Religious Institutions
  • Local Organizations & Social Clubs
  • Corporate "Lunch & Learns"
  • Business & Professional Associations

While we can address most subject matter within the broad spectrum of human-animal relationships, here are a few sample topics:

  • Wolf/Woof: How Did Dogs Become Man’s Best Friend?
  • Unusual Soldiers: Animals in War
  • Fictional Characters: A Literary Look at Animals
  • Found History: The Rise of Animal Protection in the U.S.
  • Animal Friends: Nurturing Compassion for Animals in Children

Speaking engagements are provided at no cost; however an honorarium or donation to cover travel expenses and materials is greatly appreciated. Requests for speakers are considered individually and based on feasibility and educator availability. Generally, the Museum is able to accommodate requests within the Greater Los Angeles Area and Southern California, from Santa Barbara to San Diego.

To schedule a speaking engagement, please fill out our Speaker Request Form. Have a question? Send us an e-mail at

Invite us to join the festivities! The Animal Museum attends public events throughout the year and engages festival-goers in fun, educational ways. Depending on the event, the Museum may bring a traveling exhibit or host arts & crafts activities or demonstrations for kids and kids-at-heart within its tent or another suitable venue.
